Bassam Shakaa in Paris, 1980
Taken in 1980, this photograph shows a part of the visit of Bassam Shakaa, mayor of Nablus, to France at the invitation of the French President Giscard d'Estaing, following the Israeli Occupation Authorities' attempt to assassinate Shakaa in the same year. Shakaa appears in the photograph with his wife, Enaya al-Fassed, during a dinner party held by the Palestinian community in Paris in the attendance of a number of Arab students.
