Bassam Shakaa in Paris, 1980
Taken in 1980, this photograph shows a part of the visit of Bassam Shakaa, mayor of Nablus, to France at the invitation of the French President Valery d'Estaing, in the wake of the Israeli Occupation Authorities' attempt to assassinate Shakaa in the same year. Shakaa appears in the photograph at the Hôtel de Crillon in Paris, accompanied by Peter Lan, chairman of the Franco-Arab Friendship Association.
