General Strike in Nablus, 1979

Taken in 1979, this photograph shows the city of Nablus at a time when a general strike was observed in solidarity with Bassam Shakaa, mayor of Nablus, against the expulsion order issued against him by the Israeli Occupation Authorities in the same year. It shows an Israeli Occupation Forces patrol close to the ash-Shuhada turnaround in downtown Nablus.
