Bassam Shakaa and His Wife with Their Friends in Cairo, 1963
Taken in 1963, this photograph shows Bassam Shakaa and his wife, Enaya al-Fassed, with a number of their friends, who came to congratulate the Shakaas on the birth of their son, Nidal, at a restaurant in Cairo during their stay there as political refugees. Bassel Kanaan appears in the photograph, first from the right in the first row; next to him are Bassam and Enaya; Laila Kanaan, first from the left; and next to her are the couple Samih and Hala Taqtaq.
