"Shakaa: France Has to Take a Balanced Stand", Clippings from al-Quds Newspaper, 22 March 1982
Issued on 22 March 1982, these clippings from al-Quds Newspaper report that municipal mayors in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip reached out to the international community to explain to them the situation in Palestine, particularly following the dismissal of the elected municipal councils by the Occupation Authorities. Bassam Shakaa reached out to Peter Carington, British Foreign Secretary, and Claude Cheysson, French Foreign Affairs Minister, as the municipal councils and national institutions urged the United Nations Secretary Council to intervene to put an end to the Israeli practices.
