This collection includes photographs from Rima Tarazi’s family album, which reflects aspects of social and cultural life in Ramallah and Birzeit. It documents the establishment of several educational and cultural institutions, most notably Birzeit University, the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music, and other institutions that are now prominent landmarks of the Palestinian cultural landscape.
It also captures the daily life of the Palestinian family in the early decades of the 20th century, as most photographs date back to the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s.
It also includes photographs of Rima Nasir Tarazi, her family, and her peers during years of study in different locations, such as Birzeit, Yaffa, Ramleh, Beirut, and France. It includes photographs of her husband, Antoun Tarazi, his family, and his friends in Gaza, Jerusalem, and Beirut. The collection also includes several documents related to her artistic and musical career, as she was among the earliest contemporary Palestinian musicians.
