BIOGRAPHY

Adel Tartir was born in Ramallah on 14 August 1951 to a family that was forcibly displaced from Lod. He is considered one of the pioneers of the theatrical movement in Palestine, as he contributed to the founding of the "Balalin" troupe in 1971 and the "Box of Wonders" troupe in 1976. One of his most prominent works is the monodrama "Ras Roos", which he performed in 1980.

DESCRIPTION

The Adel Tartir Collection is full of hundreds of photographs and dozens of documents, including what falls under the family archive, such as photographs of him accompanied by his family members and others related to the troupes "Balalin" and "The Box of Wonders". These documents keep pace with and follow the role of Tartir in the emergence of the theatrical movement in Palestine from the beginning of the 1970s until the 1990s. 
In addition, the collection includes several paper clippings, notebooks, issues of local newspapers, promotional posters for his shows, such as the "Abu al-Ajab Tales Series" performances, the plays he presented and participated in, and the press materials that Tartir kept, such as articles and reports about these theatrical works.
