BIOGRAPHY

Fayeq Oweis is an artist, researcher, and specialist in the field of Arabization who currently manages his company named "Aqlama Language Services". He served as the director of the Language Services Department at Google. He holds a PhD in Arabic and Islamic Studies and worked as a professor of Arabic language and culture at Santa Clara University in California. In addition, he established a project concerned with supporting and empowering women in camps and disadvantaged areas through the "Lamsat Ummi" (My Mother's Touch) Initiative, which focuses on combining Arabic poetry in calligraphy and Palestinian hand embroidery. Thus, the project later served as the nucleus of the "Lamsat Ummi" Center and Museum for Arts and Heritage in Deir Dibwan town, east of Ramallah.

DESCRIPTION

The Fayeq Oweis Collection consists of a set of photographs and documents, which he inherited from his grandfather, and represents a chronicle of the history of the village of Deir Dibwan, located in the Ramallah district. The collection includes two photographs from the Oweis family album dating back to the 1960s. It also includes a set of documents consisting of tables with the names of the students in attendance, records of the grades of Deir Dibwan school students in the 1930s, financial agreements and pledges, contracts, deeds for the sale of plots of land to the Oweis family, marriage contracts concluded in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in addition to a record of the properties of al-Abd Oweis in terms of land in Deir Dibwan.
