A "Women in Black" Movement Protest in Acre, 1989
Found in the Movement of Democratic Women in Israel Collection, and taken by Qasem Sha'ban in Acre on 13 October 1989, this photograph captures women standing in support and solidarity with the Women in Black Movement on one of their weekly protests. The Movement includes a group of Israeli women who used to gather every Friday wearing black clothes and carrying slogans including (Stop the Occupation) in Hebrew, Arabic and English, in response to the Israeli Occupation Forces violation of human rights during the First Intifada.
