A Photograph of the "Kufur Shamma" Europe Tour, el-Hakawati Theatre
A black-and-white photograph of el-Hakawati Theatre's production "Kufur Shamma" in Europe. Written and directed by François abu Salem and Jackie Lubeck, the play tells the story of Palestinian youth, Walid Nabil al-Hajjar, who went to Cairo to pursue his higher education and when he returned to his village in 1948, he found it empty except for one person, who is Ka`wash, a crazy man from the village. The play discusses the issue of displaced Palestinian villages because of the 1948 Nakba. Touring all over Europe and America to a huge success, over 150 shows, the cast of the play includes ʿĀmer Khalil, Edwar Muʿallem, Iman Aun, Ismaʿil ad-Dabbagh, Jackie Lubeck, Nabil Hajjar, and Imad Miziʿro.
