"Muhammad al-Ashmar", Adel Zawati, a Paper Clipping
Handwritten in Arabic, this paper clipping documents the name of "Muhammad al-Ashmar", a Syrian fighter who commanded the second Battle of Balaa with Muhammad aṣ-Ṣaleh abu Khaled on 3 September 1936. He also participated with Fawzy al-Qawuqji in the Battle of Jaba' on 24 September 1936 and withdrew from it towards the mountains of Yasid where he initiated another battle with the British Rescue Forces, which continued until sunset. He also led the Battle of Beit Imrin on 29 September 1936, which was a major battle in which the British lost 150 soldiers.
