A paper clipping documenting the spelling of "Ha'arava [arid area] (Wadi Araba)", a valley between the Dead Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba. Wadi Araba is an extension of the Great Rift or the Great Rift Valley, which is more than 6000 kilometres long, extending from West Asia to East Africa, and from southern Turkey to Kenya, passing through the Levant, the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. Known for its desert climate, the valley is rich in minerals such as copper, manganese, granite, silica sand, and others. On 26 October 1994, Jordan signed a peace treaty with the Israeli Occupation known as the Wadi Araba Treaty.
