Salma al-Khalidi's Interview with the Palestinian Museum, 'Never Part' Exhibition, 2013

This video clip documents Salma al-Khalidi's interview with the Palestinian Museum as part of the "Never Part" project. In this project, the museum aimed to collect stories related to highly cherished and valuable belongings preserved by Palestinians, which serve as epitomes of their connection to their homeland. Al-Khalidi preserves one of the cactus saplings that her grandfather had brought from Yafa during the Nakba of 1948, and it was subsequently taken by her uncle to Kuwait, then returned to Amman and later to Ramallah. These saplings have branched out, with the hope of planting them again in Yafa as a symbol of the journey of return, which they anticipate will eventually lead each one back to their own country.
