A Photograph of the Umayyad Palaces Site to the South of al-Aqsa Mosque
This photograph glued to a paper shows the area of the covered Umayyad Palaces called the archaeological park, Mount of Olives can be seen in the background. It is worth mentioning that through Israeli excavations for Jewish remnants, which started in the late 1960s and the early 1970s, Umayyad Palaces, known as Dar al-Imara (administrative centres), which were built next to the Haram and has 3 palaces and a door that leads to the al-Aqsa Mosque known as al-Waleed Gate. It was named al-Waleed Gate because the Umayyad Caliph, al-Waleed Ben Abdel Malek, is the one who finished building the palaces after his father, Abdel Malek Ben Marwan.
