Taken in the 1990s, this photograph shows the entrance of Acre Castle that is a huge iron gate, Ahmed Pasha al-Jazzar completed constructing and was built on the foundations of the Crusader castle that was built during the Crusader rule of the city. The castle has many names including Acre Castle, Acre prison castle and Acre central prison, and during the British mandate period, the British used it as a central prison. It is worth noting that in this prison, the British Mandate forces executed the three Palestinian youths: Mohammad Jamjoom, Ata al-Zeer and Fuad Hjazy after they participated in the al-Buraq Revolution in 1929.
