The Backstage of the "Ras Roos" Play, Ramallah, 1980

This photograph shows Adel Tartir preparing for the "Ras Roos (Head of Heads)" play right before the showing to choose the perfect photograph for the poster advertising the play, which is the first "monodrama" in the history of the Palestinian theatre movement, made by "The the Wonder Box Theatre" and written, acted and directed by Adel Tartir in June 1980, while its name is derived from an Arabic curriculum by Khalil Sakakini. The play embodies realistic stories in a fictional world about nameless marginalized people in their communities, its first showing was on the playground of Sareyyat Ramallah in 1980 for three hours amidst a grand audience.
